Renault has announced the 500bhp Renault Sport Trophy racing car, set to compete in a new one-make race series from 2015. Built by Italian chassis developer Dallara and powered by a Nismo engine, the new 2014 Trophy racer looks likely to have impressive performance figures and, judging by Renault’s teaser picture, just as impressive styling. Adding to the racing pedigree is a 1,100kg weight, seven-speed sequential gearbox by Sadev and specially created Michelin tyres.
2014 Subaru WRX STI revealed – and it’s coming to the UK
We learnt last week that the new Subaru WRX STI was heading for a debut at the Detroit Auto Show and it’s now arrived, as has confirmation that the new WRX STI is going on sale in the UK too. Subaru UK has confirmed that because the Yen has weakened there’s now a strong enough case to put the new WRX STI on sale in the UK, and that it will cost less than the original list price of the old model at £28,995. The new WRX STI gets the familiar 2.5 litre four-pot delivering 305bhp and 290lb/ft of torque, sent to all four wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox.
The 2014 Land Rover Discovery (pictured) gets a bit of a facelift
Ahead of a reveal at the Frankfurt Motor Show next week, Land Rover have revealed a facelift for the Discovery 4 as it comes to the end of its shelf life. The usual facelift fodder applies, with the Disco getting a revised front bumper, new grill and new headlights (with new LED running lights) and some nice new alloys. Land Rover has also replaced the ‘L A N D R O V E R’ lettering on the bonnet to read ‘D I S C O V E R Y’ as the move to highlight the Discovery as a range of models to stand alongside Range Rover starts to take shape ahead of the new Freelander (which will be part of a new Discovery family of cars) and the eventual replacement for the Discovery 4.
